Yesterday I was catching up on my American TV. We actually get The View here a day later than you. I have seen some tweets and Facebook comments from the show. It got me thinking.

The first one was about a kid riding suspension for a spit ball. I had to look the story up further because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing on the show. Really a year long suspension for a spit ball. Now granted it was a hollow pen and little plastic balls. I found these balls to be no more dangerous than a rolled up nasty chewed paper.

Really suspended for a year. This is the kids first infraction. The father said he should be punished. I find this to be over the top punishment and real stretch on a assault charge. These plastic balls are the same ones that are shot out of a toy gun. My kids have similar things. I have been shot. They don’t hurt. A small red mark maybe if shot close enough. A welt I highly doubt it. When I find the damn gun I am going to test it out on my husband and see about this welt clam. I really don’t think they can. How many times at age 14 did you do stupid moves? Don’t think anyone can not raise there hand. If you say you can’t then you must be some sort of saint! If you are a saint I would like to shake your hand and congratulate you and then call you a damn liar.

I think the Spotsylvania police and school boards have taken this case way to far. Detention and maybe cleaning of the school would have been more than fine. Seriously where is the common sense with this case? I know one place our family won’t be moving. I have two boys and they do dumb things now. I can’t imagine what stunts they will be pulling as teens.

The other case that caught my attention was a blogger who is a teacher and apparently she is causing up quite the stir in PA. Natalie Munroe is suspended with pay as of now. Though it looks like she may lose her job over her blog. First off I stand up and
.

She was stating her views on the teens now a days. Can I tell you how many times a day I want to scream pull up your pants, watch your mouth, get a job and stop being lazy? How about showing pride in who you are and stand a bit taller. Mind you this is while living on an Army base. She is citing the issues she sees day in and day out in her teaching job. I can only imagine how hard that must be to try and inspire your students and them having the attitude of just wanting a free ride. When I was in school there was no free ride. You got the grades that you deserved. None of this I will pass you so you can win some football games crap. She also stated things that she would like to say to parents. Hell I have things I want to say to parents at times as well. She never used her full name or the students name or the school she worked for. She was sitting at home doing her blogging. She has a life after school. I don’t think they have the right to punish her. Some call it abuse. I laugh. She didn’t say this to her kids at school. She vented on what is a online journal. She had 85 entries about and only 15 to 20 about school. What she is doing is using her freedom of Speech. She is allowed those opinions and allowed to express them. She is covered by the First Amendment  . I am amazed she is suspended for what she did on her own time.

So these two stories obviously struck a nerve with me. I find them to be such a waste of time of tax payers money and unnecessary stress for the families involved. I think people are just looking to fight something whether right or wrong. I will be following these two stories just see the out comes.

  2. First, jealous of your American TV, we only have British. Secondly, I think schools are sooooo afraid of what the parents/community will do to them, that they over react with punishments. Too extreme! Thanks for sharing

oh Hon you can have american tv too. Download Hot Spot Shield and you can get on all abc, nbc, cbs and watch for free. We hook the monitor to the tv and off we go. We do have AFN but the commercials drive me nuts.
