Masters and Moutain Climbing

[ 0 ] May 24, 2010 |

Last week we received a generic invitation to the school to see an awards ceremony. It doesn’t tell you whether or not your child will be getting one. Paul and I decided to go and support Blake. We would love on him if he didn’t get an award and Praise him if he did.

We arrive and both of us are talking with another family. We all assume it is just to show support. Well we get the program and we notice Blake’s name on there twice. Sweet he is being recognized for his hard work.  We seriously had that cheesy parent grin the whole time.

His first award was the Marlin Master Award for showing achievement and mastery in school rules and academics.  His teacher Ms. Nelson and school Principal   Ms. Blanchard gave it to him. One kid from each class received this award.

His next award was the Mountain Climber award. This is for the student who faces his challenges and adversity head on. He/she doesn’t give up in defeat. Blake got this award out of the entire first grade class. He was the only one to receive it. We are so proud of him. His other teacher Ms. Dare gave it to him.

We constantly tell him that if he puts his mind to it, than he can succeed. It is really hard with someone who has OCD and other factors that seem to take over their minds. He obsessed on other things and we have a real struggle with homework and what school is all about. I think his teachers and team did a fantastic job with him this year. We are so proud of him. This is the confidence boost this kid needed. I know the stars are the limit for him. I know if he continues to discipline himself then he will succeed and do great things in this life.
Here He is with his awards after his ceremony.

Blake we are so proud of you. Don’t ever put a limitation on yourself. You are showing us what you are capable of. Mommy and Daddy couldn’t ask for a better kid. xoxoxo You have only just begun little man.
