World of Coca-Cola Trip
On Saturday we had the opportunity to visit The World of Coca-Colain Atlanta. It was AWESOME!!!!!! We had so much fun in here. I was a bit worried about the kids and what they would think and they were in heaven. Our boys are sprite drinkers for special occasions and if the meds stop working. Giving sugar to kids with ADHD for whatever reason calms them. A trick our doctor taught us. Thanks Dr. Klineman it came in handy this weekend. So on with the adventure.
When you walk in you give your tickets and go through security. All very nice ladies working that day. We get inside and there was a greeter and photographer we had about 10 minutes until the tour starts. You get your picture taken and look around. They announce the Tour and Thank us for visiting on Coca-Cola’s birthday. Awesome! They turned 124 on Saturday. After that you move into another room full of cool old and new artifacts from all over the world. It also housed the first Coca-Cola dispenser. Where you would have to go to the pharmacy and the Soda Jerk would mix it. Very cool. My kids couldn’t believe that it wasn’t always canned.

At the end of the introduction and history of Coca-Cola. You go and watch a short 6 minute movie. It is hilarious. We wanted to watch it again. They take you inside the soda machine. Very funny and very cute. You will see a few pictures from with in, during the slide show. From there you meet the cute and cuddly Polar Bear. He was awesome! Though we are not sure if he was robotic or a human in there. You just can’t tell. They are that good!
The lobby area also has more Coca-Cola bottle displays and a place where you can hear My Coke Inspiration stories. All very interesting. The kids liked the Telephone approach. After we finished that we went into the Bottle Works Center. In here you see how the actual plant works on a smaller scale. It was really interesting to see. At the end of your tour you receive a 8 oz coke from this production line.
After that we went into the Milestones of Refreshment. You will revisit the story of Coca-Cola and You will also see it’s products in a really fun interactive way. They had flip game on the wall and they had this old pressure scale on how they used to fill the bottles. Really cool. They also had old bottle machines. One even burped. We of course video taped it. As the kids were giggling like no other.
After we finished on the bottom level we went upstairs. The first stop is a 4d movie. You are moving and it is a bit loud. We ear plugged Blake and he was fine. Still able to hear the video. Also got a sensory fix with all that was going on. Very cool experience. The movie is called In search of the Secret Formula. They were suddenly calmer after going through the movie. Amazing what they advertise as a multi sensory movie experience can do for a kid on a spectrum. kudos to Coca-Cola for this one.
After we left the movie we went into Pop Culture Gallery. It celebrates five artist Steve Penley, Gordon Chandler, Connor Jennings, Steve Kaufman, and Burton Morris. Burton Morris and Steve Kaufman were my favorite. They also house an American Idol couch and set. Very cool! The various pieces of art were amazing. A alligator made out of coke cans. They had more my coke stories. We made sure to leave ours.
We then moved into the Perfect Pauses Theater where you will relive the Coca-Cola advertising throughout the years and around the world. We had a lot of fun watching.
The next station was the The Taste It Room. This was the kids favorite. You taste coke products from all over the world. We tried sodas from Brazil to Japan to the US and more. There were 64 flavors. Not all were to our liking but there were many that you hoped the US would see. One favorite was the Bitter Lemon. It was like a lemonade but a bit sharper. My kids also liked the Mango juice. Then Nate was taken with Mr. Pibb. Who knew?
Did you know that if you take all the Coca-Cola ever produced into 8 oz contoured bottles and stacked them there would be more than six trillion bottles stacked and measuring more than 468 miles high. Amazing.
You must visit the World of Coca Cola. You will not be sorry you did.

I’m a Coke Zero addict – I bet if I put my 2 liter bottles end to end, it might reach to Atlanta!
Like the Autism vacation idea. When I took my son to Disney World, I had a letter from his doctor, detailing that he couldn’t wait in long lines. We got to go through the handicapped lines on all attractions – sure saved time and avoided stress!
